Hally’s Fulham
Went for the steak sandwich with a poached egg on top. First thought: could’ve definitely used more steak blink and you’d miss it. What was there, though, tasted great, so at least the quality carried it. Eggs were spot on, perfectly cooked, no complaints there. Problem is, I left still hungry… which for a steak sandwich is a bit like going on a rollercoaster and it only doing half a loop. Tasty, but not quite enough fuel in the tank.

The Brown Cow – Fulham
We hit The Brown Cow in Fulham for a Sunday roast, though to be fair, it was 8pm — basically closing time for roast potatoes — so expectations were tempered. We started with battered whitebait and padrón peppers, both elite, but the whitebait in particular slapped harder than it had any right to. For mains, I went beef roast: solid effort, nice gravy, but the horseradish nearly blew my sinuses into next week.
Phoebe’s stracciatella and broccoli salad was fresh and photogenic, but portion-wise… let’s just say she was eyeing my roast by the end. The service? A bit like a pub quiz team that’s one pint past its prime — friendly, well-meaning, but slightly all over the shop. We were asked if we wanted our mains before finishing starters and had to request water like it was a rare vintage. That said, the staff were genuinely lovely, and the pub itself has great vibes — warm, buzzy, and exactly where you’d want to waste a rainy London evening. We’ve since been back on a Tuesday Quiz night and for drinks, and honestly, that night hit better. (October 2025)
